nless you have come here by accident, you will already know something of Bath. It is many things to many people - the graveyard of ambition, say some; the incubator of many a fine company, band, film or book, say others. A great place for a celebration, say even more and a perfect spot for a romance say all of us.
A chocolate box of cream and honey formal architecture and yet it is also where the term ‘jerry-built’ originated. It has been revered by the Romans and the Georgians, who brought us therapeutic baths and the very best of adult entertainment. A visit to Bath could cure gout, be the cause of unmentionable complaints and be the ruin of many a lover of chance.
The Spa is open!
Today, Bath is set for resurgence. The new ultra modern 21st century spa is open. Why not pamper yourself?
The restaurant scene
Restaurants abound as do the very best of gastro pubs and whilst some may lack the Michelin stars of George Perry Smith et al, the scene is vibrant and cosmopolitan, with some great new chefs and some first class food - if you know the right places (and we do!)
Live entertainment
In Bath at the Theatre Royal we can make or break a play before it even gets to the West End and it is also home to some superb musicians who occasionally try out new numbers in their own back yard. There are also festivals – more than 20 at the last count which cover everything be it music, food, Shakespeare, boule or even puppetry.
The river has fish and boats, as has the canal which is navigable all the way to Newbury. The surrounding countryside is some of the most varied you will find anywhere in Britain.
Not for nothing is Bath a World Heritage Site and when the weather is good the views are simply second to none. Yes we are proud of it and it won’t take you long to find out why because Bath is the must-do for anyone visiting the UK for the first or even the twenty-first time. It is the place to have as much fun as you want to have.
Award winning
Bath always picks up more than its fair share of awards and this year it has already been voted number four in the top 25 cities in Europe by clients of Trip Advisor.
